jean-y in a bottle

As promised, I threw on my favorite blues, channeled my inner Tyra and smized for the camera. My take on the Canadian tuxedo is pretty simple: dress it up with a heavy denim trouser and tucked in chambray shirt. The blouse (featured in a previous post) is one of my staples. Colored denim, print pants, leggings, skirts, you name it and you can basically throw the shirt on over it and you look effortlessly cool. The trousers on the other hand, can be a bit tricky. I'm 5'6" so to look long and lean I threw on some platforms to keep my legs from drowning in a sea of denim. A little tailoring and tucking can go a long way!

sweat

After a few days down with the flu, I was finally able to make it back into work and the only thing that's gotten me through it has been big comfy sweatshirts. I usually have a strong aversion to being super casual in the workplace - it's an office for crying out loud - but the latest surge of printed sweatshirts have really made me do a 180. Honestly, the graphics, different materials and designer collabs (Hellllooo Philip Lim!) have taken these tops from the gym to the office, and definitely the bar! I popped open my closet and pulled out some of my personal favorites and mixed in a few dashes of inspiration from some real life beauties.

spirit animal

Seeing as I've spent the better part of three days stuck in bed with a cold, I've had plenty of time to peruse the internet for outfit inspiration. Just before my shopping purge, I bought the most amazing faux fur vest which I had been obsessively tweeting about for weeks. I'm beyond excited to wear it and honestly thought I needed either a hot date or wild girls night out as an excuse to throw it on. After doing a bit of investigating, I'm happy to admit I'm wrong (which I rarely am) and will be putting that baby to good use! Stick around for some vest shots in real life later this week, but until then, enjoy my faux furry muses.

canadian tuxedo

If there's one trend I love more than anything, it's denim on denim. The ease of a chambray shirt thrown on over your favorite pair of jeans with a chic pair of flats or some skinny heels really makes you looked pulled together. I gathered some inspirational looks which I hope to pull off later this week. Stay tuned for my spin on the trend!

in bloom

Lately I've been overly obsessed with all things floral. Before my shopping diet, I purchased the most gorgeous rose printed body-con dress from H&M. I can't wait to show you all, but I'll be saving it for a special day...or a Tuesday when I just want to be extra gorgeous.

In the meantime, I took a peek in my "in-home boutique" and pulled together a few looks that make me feel like a flower princess.

walk-in closet

I'm 100% sure I should be running my own boutique out of my closet.

Friends, please take a look at where I'll be shopping for the next few months. I should probably note there's a trunk (not pictured) filled with sweaters, print pants, leggings and a bunch of things I'm sure I forgot about. Can't wait to get started!!

the dilemma

It all started with a shirt. A simple nondescript button down on a lonely plastic hanger...added to a huge pile of clothes - both old and new - complete with their shiny new store tags. I realized how much money I've actually spent amassing all of my babies (yes, my clothes are my babies) and how little space I actually have to house all of my finds soo...I came up with a BRILLIANT solution - Pommes Frites. For the next few months, you, your friends, ya mama, ya daddy, and your cousin too are invited to watch as I reinvent and create new looks from my wardrobe without spending any additional money on clothes. Of course, there are rules.

THE RULES
  1. I cannot purchase clothes (eg. pants, shirts, skirts, dresses...OMG I just started crying)
  2. I'm limited to one accessory or shoe addition a month
  3. Clothing gifts are acceptable
  4. Borrowing from a fellow closet is also acceptable (and will be noted)
  5. Thievery is NOT allowed...unless I don't get caught (that's called extended borrowing kids)
So...tighten your seat belts kids, because it's about to go down.
